ACT/NSW/VIC Holiday - Day 2

Day 2 was always going to be our biggest day driving, it was only about 600 kays but still a long way with the kids in the car.

Kilmore to Canberra....well Kowan forest.

We got away nice and early, 8am to be exact. Our first stop was Albury. We had so much pizza left over we had yummy cold pizza for lunch at a nice park in Albury.

Then highway and more highway to our next stop which was Gundagai to have a look at the dog on the tucker box.

Highway driving is not the most exciting thing to do and when we got to Yass we completely forgot to turn off to Canberra LOL. All was not lost, as it turns out Kowan Forest is closer to the 'new' way we ended up going!

After a bit of messing around and looking for the correct boom gate we managed to find our camp site in Kowan State forest reasonably early.

As luck would have it we were the only people there. It is a nice camp ground, clean loo's, sheltered barby area and heaps of fire wood. It is situated about 5 kays into the pine plantation. For the Rally enthusiasts, you will know the forest name because it has hosted many famous rally rounds. In fact the special stage arena is all still set up just around the corner from the camp ground.

It was reasonably hot but we managed to get every thing set up nice and early, here are some random pics of the area.

And some pics of our set up for this trip.

There were 100's of kangaroo's around the camp site. None of them were overly friendly but we liked watching them :)

Some random pics of the kids being kids.

After mashed spuds, rissoles and gravy for tea we lit a fire and watched the clouds roll in, it was a very warm night with the cloud cover but didn't rain. We all had an early night looking forward to our first real day the next day.
